The Grandeur Invitational

.
The Grandeur Invitational started as a summer picnic for a local Afghan Hound breed club. It eventually grew to become a significant event with virtually national participation.

Some unique features of the Invitational included a special guest judge each year, who would judge the first class and Best in Match. Each class winner would judge the next class, creating a round-robin tournament. This often gave newcomers their first experience as a judge.

It was a wonderful opportunity for veteran breeders to mingle with those new to the breed. Attendance numbered in the hundreds, and entries often exceeded 50 Afghans of all ages. Roger offered Valet Parking and an incredible luncheon including his now-famous chili, plus lobster for all.

The yearly Raffle generated hundreds of dollars for Afghan Rescue. Other clubs have since taken up this concept, and report great success.
